The 4th Annual Good Food Showcase is an event to connect buyers with local good food businesses from the San Diego County region.   Over the last three years (event formerly known as Let's Go Local! Produce Showcase!), this annual Showcase has helped connect hundreds of institutional purchasers with dozens of local farms and other producers.  Surveyed buyers from the 2015 Showcase reported purchasing $80,550 in local and sustainable foods as a result of their attendance.

The Good Food Showcase will be held on Friday, December 2, 2016 from 1:00pm-4:00pm at Coastal Roots Farm in Encinitas. The event helps businesses and buyers connect with local growers and the good food movement as a whole - raising up the best practices currently underway in our communities.   Every year the showcase makes it easy for good food businesses and distributors to connect with the institutional market, helping to expand our local economy and encouraging more consumption of fresh, healthy fruits, vegetables, and other good food products.

At the Good Food Showcase we strive to increase the education and awareness of how community well-being is tied to a healthy food system.  By building a stronger market for our local farms and food producers, we are building a healthier community.

Community Health Improvement Partners

Community Health Improvement Partners (CHIP) works throughout San Diego County to advance solutions to priority health needs through collaboration and community engagement. CHIP works to create a healthy, sustainable, and just food system because it is now clear that the health of the food system is inextricably tied to the health of people, our local economy, and the environment. The food systems work at CHIP developed through the San Diego County Childhood Obesity Initiative (COI). Since 2010 CHIP has led the San Diego County Farm to School Taskforce and Nutrition in Healthcare Leadership Team, two entities now leading food systems change in SD County schools and hospitals, respectively. These two initiatives developed as subcomittees of the COI’s Schools and After School Domain and Healthcare Domain. Why the Good Food Showcase? CHIP assists institutional buyers, large and small, to shift their procurement to more local, healthful, and sustainable food options. As a relationship ‘broker’ in the local food system, CHIP uses a variety of strategies and tools to connect buyers directly to San Diego County-grown produce and other good food. The Good Food Showcase assists institutions with meeting their procurement goals while supporting the region's robust agricultural industry. CHIP works with local farmers, distributors, institutions, businesses, local government, and fellow advocates to grow the market for healthy, fresh, sustainable, local food.
